About Leslie

Licensed Professional Counselor, MA, LPC, NCC

I was born and raised in Austin, TX and attended Texas A&M University where I completed my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. Afterwards, I attended Sam Houston State University where I completed my Master of Arts degree in Counseling. I’ve been fortunate to have a variety of training and work experiences in both public and private settings with a broad range of clients from different cultures, backgrounds, and ages which has shaped and molded me into the therapist I am today. I have been able to help clients effectively by utilizing integrative approaches in cognitive behavioral, person-centered, and solution-focused interventions.

After moving to Florida, I worked at The Watershed, which is a private inpatient substance abuse and detox facility. I also worked with adolescents, adults and seniors with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders at the Fort Lauderdale Hospital. I returned to college counseling working as a Staff Counselor at Barry University’s Center for Counseling and Psychological Service where I treated a diverse student population on a broad range of issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship issues, family of origin issues, physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, grief and loss, sleep disturbances, and self-esteem issues as well as eating disorders and substance abuse. While working at Barry, I also had a small private practice.

After leaving Florida, I moved to Oahu, Hawaii where I had a full-time private practice for five years. I had the pleasure of working with military service members and their families, local Hawaiians, as well as mainlanders living in Hawaii. It was during this time that I realized my passion for helping individuals and couples through my work in private practice.

After returning to Texas, I opened up my private practice in San Antonio.  I also still provide some counseling services to clients in Hawaii via tele-mental health.

I am a member of the American Counseling Association, the Texas Counseling Association, and the Hawaii Psychological Association. My hobbies include traveling, hiking, snorkeling, and playing card games. I’m also an animal lover.
